CONSTRUCTING OPPORTUNITIES
Hands On Excavating was started in order to provide opportunities for ourselves to do what we enjoy and to provide for our families. We view each of our projects as someone's opportunity as well. Whether it's the opportunity to have your own home, to have a more successful business, or accomplish your own personal goals, we would like to help you build your next opportunity.
We do
Tilling
We install field tile using cutting edge GPS technology to control the machine and grade of installation, giving you a slope that is precise and adaptive to the terrain. We currently operate a Wolfe 600 self-propelled plow which is capable of installing tile up to 18" dual wall. This allows us to get any job done in a timely and cost effective manner. At the completion of each tile job you will receive a color GPS map of the completed project. A digital shape file of the project is also available upon request.

Our excavating capabilities run the full range of size and capabilities. From small projects with tight space restrictions to bin pads, hog barns, and commercial site development we have done it all. We utilize laser guidance to maintain grade for footing, basements and any other sub soil excavation. Our bulldozer has laser machine control for running the finish grades on a project. We also have GPS control on our scrapers and finish blade in order to help complete those large projects efficiently and precisely.

From clearing old buildings on your farmstead, to removing groves of trees to expand your farmable acres, we have done them all and many things in between. We approach each demolition job with the utmost safety in mind for you, the other structures you may want to save, our people and equipment, and the environment. We will dispose of the demolition material in a safe and efficient manner and return the site to the condition that meets your needs.

From soil to rock to demolition material we are able to haul it. Having our own trucks gives us the advantage of never having to halt a job to wait for material. We are able to plan ahead and have the material on site as it is needed or for those immediate needs we can get material fast.

It takes time and knowledge to deal with all the different problems that the site and mother nature can bring. Hands On excavating has the knowledge, experience, and equipment to make sure that your site is on grade, meets compaction specs, and is completed in a safe and timely manner.

MEET THE CREW.
Hands On Excavating LLC was started by Jacob, David, Brett and Brian Handsaker. We all grew up on the family farm where the value of hard work, dedication, and team work was always taught. We have diverse educational backgrounds that give us a broad knowledge base to draw from to meet your needs: Jacob and Brian went to Iowa State University to study Agriculture and Turf Grass Management, respectively. David went to the University of North Dakota where he obtained his Aviation Management Degree and Brett attended North West Iowa Community College and majored in the electrician's trade.
After college and working in our areas of study, we were all drawn back to the farming lifestyle. However, the operation needed to expand in order to be able to support our growing families. Tile repair and smaller dirt work projects had always been a part of the farm and the opportunity was there to expand this into a commercial enterprise, which is how Hands On Excavating got its start.
We had some basic construction equipment that was used on the farm so we started using that equipment to focus on doing commercially what we had been doing privately for so many years. Calls soon started to come in for bigger jobs that would require new skill sets and experience that we didn't have. We contacted longtime family friend Bob Lepper, who has roots in Hubbard and owned and operated Bob Lepper Excavating for over 30 years before family commitments called him away. Bob was asked to pass along some of his expertise to help us get a start. Bob started passing along his knowledge and we started to cut our teeth on projects. Hands On Excavating was born.
